Making Plans for 2019

Happy New Year, makers! We hope you enjoyed a peaceful holiday season and you're ready to start off 2019 with a shot of creative energy.

We opened on August 3, 2018, and in the last 4 months, we've learned so much from you and we're always making tweaks to improve and refine the Maker Practice experience. We're taking the opportunity of the change in the calendar to introduce changes that we hope you'll like, according to what we've heard from you.

First, we're going to reservations only and we'll host three sessions a day: 1 pm, 5 pm, and 7 pm Tuesday through Saturday. We'll have two sessions on Sunday: 1 pm and 4 pm. We've listened to your feedback, and the majority of you make reservations rather than just popping in. We decided to go to reservations only so we can offer you our best whenever you plan to come in. We'll be open during the day as well, working on our own stuff, and you can come join us: our tables are for rent to makers with their own projects to work on.

Secondly, we're working on expanding our craft line to offer you more choices. Our ambition from the beginning has been to offer our makers variety: variety in skills, and variety of media and technique, with tons of customizable options. In service to that idea, we're bringing back some first quarter projects, keeping a few from the second quarter, and adding new crafts as often as we can. We're excited to offer 10 projects starting February 1! Keep an eye on the blog for the full line up in the next couple of weeks.
Third, we want to thank you, makers, for helping our small business dreams come true. We've had a blast with you and felt so blessed by your presence in the studio. We want to encourage you to visit more often and bring new friends along, too. Starting February 1, we're adding a Frequent Makers Card. Because this is Maker Practice, we won't be handing you a boring old punch card. Instead, we'll give you a wooden card to decorate and we'll keep it in the studio for you. Each time you make a project or take a workshop, you can drill a new hole in your card. The eleventh craft kit is on us.

We are so excited to see what you will make in 2019 and to help make your crafting dreams come true!

Happy Making,
Amy
